Eriksen Translations Awarded Language Services Contract with New York State OGS
Eriksen Translations has been selected as an approved language services vendor by the New York State Office of General Services.
Brooklyn, NY – December 1, 2022 – Eriksen Translations Inc. (www.eriksen.com), a leading language services provider, is excited to announce that it has been awarded a five-year translation services contract by the New York State Office of General Services. As an approved vendor under contract #23253-Language Services, Eriksen will provide written translation and desktop publishing services to help support New Yorkers with limited English proficiency. Eriksen is one of multiple vendors available on this contract award, which is in effect October 25, 2022 through October 26, 2027.
Eriksen Translations provides language services to help New York City and State agencies make public services and programs accessible to immigrants and other New Yorkers who do not read, speak, or write English with proficiency. In addition to its work with the Office of General Services, Eriksen supports the New York State Department of Health and holds a five-year contract with the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA). The company also serves as a language partner to many New York City agencies, including the NYC Campaign Finance Board, the NYC Civic Engagement Commission, the NYC Department of Sanitation, the NYC Housing Authority, and the NYC Commission on Human Rights.
The Office of General Services contract directly supports the new Office of Language Access launched by Governor Hochul to oversee the codified and expanded statewide language access policy. This plan broadens New York’s existing language access policy, which has been in place since 2011, by requiring that vital documents be translated into the State’s 12 most commonly spoken non-English languages. Agencies may add up to four additional languages based on regional language access needs and other factors.
“We are honored to be serving New York State as they lead the nation with their robust approach to language access,” said Founder & CEO Vigdis Eriksen. “Our team has always been proud to support immigrants and other New Yorkers with limited English proficiency. We are excited to expand our work in this area and help make it easier for all New Yorkers to benefit from the many services and resources offered by the State.”
Eriksen supports New York State as a certified woman-owned business enterprise. The State is committed to promoting equitable access to economic opportunities for minority- and women-owned businesses and boasts the highest minority and women-owned business utilization rate in the country.
