Job Description

Eriksen Translations seeks a motivated, experienced project manager with excellent customer service skills. This position will focus on our work for museums and cultural institutions as well as nonprofits and clients in the creative services industry.

In this role, you will plan and execute translation projects by managing quality, budget, and schedules. You must be a team player who is able to multitask, prioritize, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and provide excellent customer service at all times.

Key Responsibilities

You will plan, schedule and manage multiple projects from inception to final delivery, ensuring optimal workflows and following all established quality assurance procedures. This includes:

  • Supporting sales during new client acquisition and onboarding; assessing scope of work and providing quotes for clients and prospects.
  • Educating clients and prospects on the company’s services, advising them, and managing their expectations.
  • Assembling and supervising project teams, including linguists, typesetters, technical support, and QA specialists.
  • Maintaining relationships with linguists and coaching them on any linguistic or technical issues that arise.
  • Working closely with the vendor manager to identify sourcing needs and contribute/participate in negotiations with vendors.
  • Proactively conceptualize and execute new workflows or innovative solutions for unconventional projects.
  • Creating and maintaining linguistic assets: TMs, glossaries, and style guides.
  • Strictly adhering to all established quality assurance procedures and best practices.
  • Managing the client review process, a key component of these accounts.
  • Coordinating with account managers and other team members to meet revenue and profit margin targets.
  • Following up with clients after project completion and participating in periodic business review meetings.


  • Five or more years of experience in translation/localization project management. Experience supporting cultural institutions, publications, or creative services clients preferred.
  • College degree in languages, communication, art history, or related field.
  • Excellent English oral and written interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of at least one language (Spanish preferred) in addition to English is required.
  • Extensive experience with interactive multi-media, audio-visual tools, and subtitling/captioning (experience with eLearning tools a plus).
  • Strong computer skills and experience with CMSs (Plunet, XTRF) and industry-standard CAT tools (memoQ, SDLTrados).
  • Thorough understanding of creative processes: transcreation, cultural adaptation, and back translation.
  • Experience in multilingual typesetting processes and typical workflows for high-quality print materials.
  • Customer service experience with the ability to interact and engage with clients in a consultative and collaborative manner.
  • Flexible, goal-oriented team player who is also able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to proactively offer new solutions in anticipation of clients’ changing needs.
  • Able to work productively from home.
